CONSIGNMENT

3 Simple Steps to Consignment:

1. Send us a sample copy of your zine or email benn@atomicbooks.com your website with information and images for us to peruse, and all your contact information (email, phone number, mailing address, etc.). Please do not send us unsolicited attachments.

2. If we feel that your zine fits in our store then we'll let you know and you can fill out  this CONSIGNMENT FORM that is basically a 60/40 contract, with you, the creator/publisher, getting the larger percentage.

3. You send us back the consignment form, with everything filled out (keep a copy for yourself), and the requested amount of copies of your publication.

Some guidelines:

1. We want you to keep creating, not burn out. Make your prices reasonable. There's nothing we can do to really change this nickel and dime operation, and no one's getting rich or even breaking even, but try not to give everything away only to be disappointed and broke after issue 2. But also, just because you've seen a magazine once being sold for $18 doesn't mean people will pay that for your brand new publication.

2. Don't ask us to buy zines outright. The book biz is a consignment biz, otherwise there's no way we'd be able to take the chance to carry the diverse range of zines that we have.

3. Don't freak out if your zine doesn't sell out in a week. It takes time for word of mouth and title familiarity. Give it 90 days before you contact us. If it sells out before that we'll contact you.

4. DO NOT CALL US TO CHECK ON YOUR CONSIGNMENT.

If you want to drop by the store and check on your consignment, please be kind enough to let us know in advance (and that means a few days notice, not a few hours) so we can have that information ready for you. Sometimes it gets really busy in the store and we can't stop what we're doing to unexpectedly check on consignment.

It's also helpful if you have a copy of your consignment form when you come in as well.

5. We can no longer return unsold titles. Shipping is just too prohibitive now to do full returns. If you'd like proof of unsold titles we can strip the covers and send those back to you.

6. These guidelines also apply to CDs, books and any other items for consignment!
