Kevin was determined to work his way up the ranks and become the next big hotshot executive in Major League Baseball. That dream died in a gritty Central Pennsylvania minor league baseball stadium when his boss and tormentor, Rick Munster, died violently in his arms. Blackballed from baseball by the taint of questions arising from Munster's death, Kevin was destined for career purgatory.

Two decades later after a cryptic letter is read at the funeral of Wally Northrop, a friend and former confederate from his short lived professional baseball career, Kevin begins to suspect Wally didn't die from natural causes, and dark tentacles from their past had caught up with him. Back in Westernport for the first time since Rick Munster's killing, Kevin tries to resurrect his moribund career, while at the same time piecing together Wally's murder. With an eccentric cast of characters working for the Westernport Keystones, Kevin begins to suspect all the employees had motives to do away with Wally and now fears one of them has their sights on him.
