"It had a rickety start, with her bellowing at some MTV VJ who was walking by the dressing room, seemingly in a terrible mood, but the fact that I’d met Kurt, had played a show with him once, and was a real fan may have warmed her up some. We ended up getting along quite nicely. The interview went well past the agreed-upon wrap-up point, with Courtney constantly telling her manager/publicist to give us some more time until eventually both of our 'bosses' were annoyed. It eventually devolved into the two of us lying around a bit high, gossiping, doing Mad Libs, and taking multiple Polaroids. Breasts were bared, Johnny Ramone came to visit, and Amanda de Cadenet dropped by and acted like a brat."
From 1992-2000 and from 2002-2007 Johnny Riggs worked as a DJ at Baltimore/Washington's leading alternative rock radio station, WHFS (and on XM Radio from 2000-2002). He was also in the band Cinnamon Toast.
Being in a band and also a popular DJ at a beloved area radio station gave him access to a wide range of "alternative" (#whateverthatmeans) artists. Equipped with a Polaroid Captiva, he used that access to take these. He has been shooting Polaroids since he was 7 years old.
