"I was broadcasting from a bus right around Christmastime one year. I could take it wherever I wanted. I drove it to Virginia and called Dave to come visit me. Out on the street we had a spinning prize wheel and I was letting listeners spin the wheel and I was giving away goodies. At some point I ran out of things to give out. Dave went into the trunk of his SUV and started giving away wrapped presents that he had bought for some of his friends for Christmas. That means that I didn't get anything from him for Christmas and my radio listener friends learned that he is possibly the nicest guy on the planet."
From 1992-2000 and from 2002-2007 Johnny Riggs worked as a DJ at Baltimore/Washington's leading alternative rock radio station, WHFS (and on XM Radio from 2000-2002). He was also in the band Cinnamon Toast.
Being in a band and also a popular DJ at a beloved area radio station gave him access to a wide range of "alternative" (#whateverthatmeans) artists. Equipped with a Polaroid Captiva, he used that access to take these. He has been shooting Polaroids since he was 7 years old.
