Backstory: Junko Mizuno’s Pure Trance mini series is inspired by her hit graphic novel of the same name. This twisted tale tells the story of a group of humans who left earth’s toxic surface following the Third World War to build an underground city. Unfortunately, a serious social problem emerged in this new society called hyperorexia, which is a severe overeating disorder that is a side effect of the Pure Trance life-sustaining pill.

Artist: Junk Mizuno is a Japanese manga artist best known for her Gothic Kawaii comic books and graphic novels. Her work was featured in the BBC documentary Japanorama and has been displayed at the Merry Karnowsky Gallery in LA.
