You never know what's going to inspire someone to start doing a zine. In the case of BOOKSTORES AND BASEBALL, it was the editor's grandmother—a Holocaust survivor who, for some reason, not only came to love baseball, but declared herself to be a fan of the Oakland A’s. You certainly won’t find me complaining about a zine that involves traipsing around the country to visit bookstores and baseball games.
And not just major league baseball games; the Midland (TX) Rockhounds of AA ball, Sacramento (CA) Rivercats of AAA ball, and single-A Stockton (CA) Ports also make appearances. As well as Ted Giannoulas, the legendary San Diego Chicken, and the Decatur Book Festival. You know what they say: batter up! They also say three strikes and you’re out, so don’t wait until the inning’s over. (Posted on 8/13/12)
