from The Mobtown Shank Review by Benn Ray
This book is seriously ginormous. I mean, I need to prop it up just to read it. When it came in, my initial response to the sheer magnificence of this title lead me to think that Kramers Ergot had raised the bar for comic anthologies, that it is the new pinnacle of literate and artistic comics which all other comics will be measured by. However, after reading it, after wading through great new work from Dan Clowes, Chris Ware, Ivan Brunetti, Seth, etc. (usually a page or two per), and realizing that 10 years ago, we would get 24 - 32 pages of great new work from many of these artists 3 - 4 times a year, I now see Kramers Ergot as a tombstone for alternative comics. Regardless, form and content combine in this book to create a wall of comics that surrounds you as you read, blocking out the rest of the world. An important book regardless of if you see it as raising the bar or closing the book. (Posted on 2/4/12)
