from Xerography Debt #27 Review by Gavin Grant
Reading Yeti was like driving into a new town and discovering a fantastic radio station, maybe something like WFMU or KCRW (although not as smoothed-out as the latter). These folk have been around for a while and know how to put together a good music magazine—which also comes with a CD full of (mostly new to me) music.

My one complaint is the table of contents which is rather lacking in information but it did mean I started from the beginning instead of jumping around. There are a couple of band interviews (Explode into Colors, Zola Jesus) and an off the wall piece about Bishop Perry Tillis, an old Alabama musician with seemingly multiple personalities and a good way with a guitar.

Between Tillis, and interviews with modern composer Elaine Radigue (from 1998) and Flower Electronics/Jessica Ryland (synthesizer design and building), Yeti’s musical interests are fascinatingly broad and eclectic. Like a great record/CD/mixtape/playlist, every time you finish an article you don’t know what comes next. Awesome. (Posted on 8/12/12)
