DIYoDW? is a compilation zine about food and community. Nicki describes volunteering in a soup kitchen, working at a collective restaurant, garden-sharing, food sovereignty and more. Some of these concepts are new to me. I know there’s a lot of politics about the food industry and organic farming these days, but I was excited to learn about all of these grassroots ways to grow food, build community and appreciate the planet. I really liked the essay on starting a seed exchange. I also liked Nicki’s focus on nourishment—not just from food but from where we live and from those around us. A very solid zine about a timely topic. (Posted on 8/13/12)
