Osamu Tezuka's epic tale of the life of Buddha is a sprawling, magnificent work. Conveying the tenets of Buddhism without being preachy, BUDDHA is more like a Lawrence of Arabia than The Passion of Christ. And Tezuka's blending of illustration styles... well, remember that feeling you had when you were a kid where you could stare at a particular illustration for hours, mesmerized? This is the first time I've experienced that since I was a kid, staring at Wacky Packages and Car-Toons. (Posted on 2/4/12)
