YOUR FACE OFF isn’t some kind of clever attempt at humor. It’s the literal title for a decidedly non-fiction publication. It begins with a quick history lesson about soap (which has been known to humans practically since the beginning of history, but wasn’t manufactured on a large scale until the end of the 18th century). We then proceed to the Rules of Lye, which you ignore at your own peril. Then it’s time to get soap-making! Included are special tricks regarding the use of colorants and additives, as well as two basic recipes for soap. There are useful bits about making healing soaps, oatmeal soaps, pet soaps, and—in case you can’t stand the thought of monochromatic bars—swirly soaps. I may have to take a break from writing zine reviews just to take a quick shower!
