If you have been reading my reviews of late, you are well aware that I am a fan of Billy and his perzine PROOF I EXIST. As I’ve written before, PIE is one of those zines for which I will drop all else in order to devote my undivided attention. I’m always absorbed when reading Billy’s writing, no matter what the subject, and believe me, I’ve read some pretty intense stuff he’s written.
PIE #13 turned out to be a crafting project Billy decided to take on, and what a project it was. Each and every one of the 113 copies of this issue is unique in more than one way. Billy explains: “I went all out on the layout.
Each individually numbered copies has a unique picture on the cover, each issue has one special unique story in the middle, each issue has a block-printed sticker, and so on. So on. Sewn on, I almost forgot, each cover has fabric sewn onto it… it’s more of a craft project than a zine. Did I mention the baseball card you will get, only with MY stats on the back? Did I mention the fold-out part where I talk about celebrities I have crushes on?”
Another set of great stories/tales from Billy’s pen. PROOF I EXIST is perzine at its best.
