For anyone who doesn't understand the organic revolution, this book will have you running to the farmers market. Or the toilet. Pollan scared the bejesus out of me by outlining exactly what is wrong with America's food production today, and who to blame. (I don't want to ruing the surprise, but Nixon -- as always -- has some explaining to do.) Without becoming preachy, or displaying horrifying slaughterhouse photos, Pollan succeeded where 10 years of my best friend gently nudging failed: Buying organic isn't yuppie and elitist. It's essential for human health and the future of mankind! Well, at least, it's a LOT better for you and everyone you know.
