Details
The story, set in an Italian neighborhood in East Baltimore, expresses the pain and sorrow facing her as she strives to deal with her family and life's many unfortunate twists and turns. Without a mother to guide her, she falls prey to a fast-talking musician and the lure of drugs, good times, and easy money. Her salvation is in her love for Dolly, a poor broken boy from her childhood.
